In the event that severe weather is projected for the day of Commencement, the commencement ceremony will be moved from its outdoor location on the Hamlin Quad to the Varsity Gym, which is indoors.  This decision will be made by 5:00 p.m. on the evening before the scheduled day of the Commencement and will be communicated through the website and social media channels.

For the Undergraduate Ceremony May 19th:

  1. The Commencement Ceremony will take place in the Varsity Gym, which is located in the Student Center.  There will be only one ceremony for all undergraduate students.
  2. Each graduate will receive a total of two (2) wristbands as you check in on the day of the ceremony. Please note that wristbands will ONLY be passed out the day of Commencement. These may be given to guests who will be present in the Varsity Gym for the ceremony.  Only guests with wristbands will be allowed into the Gym.
  3. All other guests are asked to view the live-streamed ceremony from one of several other locations on campus, including the Intramural Gym, St. Francis Chapel, and LSC Conference Room (each located in the D. J. Lombardo Student Center) and the Donahue Auditorium (located in the Dolan Science Center).

  4. In the event a graduate has more wristbands than guests joining them for the ceremony, the graduate is welcome to distribute those wristbands to the guests of another graduate participating in the same ceremony.

For the Graduate Ceremony on Saturday, May 18th:

  1. The Commencement Ceremony will take place in the Varsity Gym, which is located in the D.J. Lombardo Student Center. There will be only one ceremony for all graduate students
  2. There is sufficient seating for all guests of the graduates in the Varsity Gym. No tickets are required.

Should we have to pivot to the Inclement Weather Plan, we ask for your understanding and cooperation as we work to make the day memorable for all participants. Moving indoors will be our last resort in the event of severe weather conditions.
