Selen Zarrelli, MBA (she/her/hers), began working at JCU in 2018. Her most recent role was Program Coordinator for Wayfinders Program. Before joining JCU, she worked in the staffing and hospitality industry as a Staffing Specialist and Recruiter. Selen received her M.B.A. from the Boler College of Business at JCU. Her B.B.A. is in International Relations from Ege University, Izmir (Turkey), and she studied Political Science at Universiteit van Gent in Ghent (Belgium).
Selen volunteers her time in projects such as ISupportTheGirls and Mentoring Immigrant and Refugee Youth. She has also participated in projects such as My Urban Library, Cultures in Globalism, and Human Rights through the European Union. She is the facilitator for the Women of Color and Staff of Color Employee Resource Group. Fun Facts: She enjoys photography; recently, her work was published as a book cover in Italy and won an award in a competition sponsored by The World Bank. Angela Aviquivil (she/her/hers) earned her B.S. in Psychology from John Carroll University in 2019. She is continuing her education at JCU in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. During her undergrad, she served as a resident assistant, an orientation leader, and an intern for the Immersion Program. She is excited to continue her education at the school that made her who she is today. She is from Parma, Ohio, and in her free time, she loves listening to podcasts, reading, watching documentaries, and exploring! Fun fact: she was right-handed until first grade. Anna Brock (she/her/hers) joined the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion in March of 2024. Before joining JCU, she worked at Ursuline College as the Diversity Office Assistant and then as the Coordinator of Student Activities. She brings with her lots of experience with student engagement and loves to connect with all students! Anna’s favorite project to date has been creating diversity dialogue spaces for faculty, staff, and students during the height of the pandemic and the social justice movements of 2020. Anna believes that diversity education and being able to ask questions is the best way to break down biases and learn about people who may be different than you. Because you might just learn that they are not that different after all! Anna was born and raised in Cleveland Heights, just 5 minutes down the road from John Carroll. She loves to explore Cleveland in her free time, most of all, the wonderful restaurants that Cleveland has to offer! Some of her hobbies include learning any new creative outlet such as crocheting, cross-stitch, and any DIY house projects! Fun fact: she has two adorable pitbulls at home who are her whole world!
