If as a graduating senior you do not need 12 or more credits for graduation and you register below a full time course load you can still receive your scholarships and aid as well as housing, dining and other services; provided you communicate your specific situation to the office of Student Enrollment and Financial Services (SEFS). Please note your aid may be prorated based on the remaining coursework you have left to complete.
If you register for less than 6 credit hours, your federal aid will be impacted. For more information regarding that please reach out directly to the office of Student Enrollment and Financial Services (SEFS) at enrollment@jcu.edu.
Shortly after graduation or departure from school, students will have the personal responsibility of repaying college loans. Students who are graduating, transferring, or withdrawing from John Carroll are required to complete an online Exit Counseling session. This Federal requirement will only take about 30 minutes of your time.
Additionally, if you borrowed a Perkins Loan, ECSI will conduct exit counseling for this loan. This counseling is in addition to the exit counseling for your Stafford Loans.
Access the “Know What You Owe” PowerPoint Presentation here.
Loan Repayment and Consolidation Shortly after graduation, you will receive information regarding repayment of your loans from the lender or company servicing your loans. There are several repayment plans you can choose from to fit your financial situation. Please note that if at any point during repayment you cannot afford your monthly payments, contact your lender to discuss your financial situation. Loan forbearance is available for students who cannot afford to repay their loan due to financial hardships. For more information about loan repayment plans or consolidating your Stafford Loans, please visit StudentAid.gov.
Review Your Loan Debt The Student Aid Dashboard is a great resource for students to utilize to review their Federal Loan borrowing history. You will need your social security number, date of birth, and FSA ID to access your loan history. Please note that this database will not show any Private Loans borrowed.
The following is a list of Federal Student Aid servicers for the Direct Loan Program and for FFEL Program Loans purchased by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are not sure who your loan servicer is, you can look up your information through StudentAid.gov.
