WHU (Wissenschaftliche Hochschule für Unternehmensführung “College of Applied Science for Business Management”) also known as the Otto Beisheim School of Management, is a private business school in Vallendar, Germany. Vallendar is a suburb of Koblenz Germany, at the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel Rivers. WHU has an excellent international reputation for its business programs.
Students will take coursework in Business Management, taught in English, and coursework on the German language. There are four levels of German-language courses, including beginner-level courses. Students take a language placement test upon their arrival at WHU.
The university holds a career fair every semester to help students arrange internships, and has an online database to help WHU students find an internship. John Carroll students have full access to these resources.
Housing in student apartments is available near campus in university-owned buildings. Arrangements for housing are made through WHU’s own housing office. Students are able to cook for themselves in their apartments, and there are two cafeterias (Mensa) on campus. Students can take part in organized excursions to see Germany and neighboring countries. The city of Koblenz is easily accessible by train from almost anywhere in Europe.
Financial Aid: Students can apply all John Carroll financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans) with the exception of Work Study to the cost of tuition. There are significant scholarship opportunities available to study in Germany. The deadlines are often very early. See: JCU’s Scholarships and Financial Aid Page
The deadline for applications to study abroad for Fall Semester is March 1, and for Spring Semester is September 1.
